Explanation and meaning of pattern and colors
Beautiful gradation of blue symbolizes the sea here - probably the beauty of the sea around Tango peninsular, the area where the silk for this kimono was produced.
Description of fabric characteristics
Tango peninsular, a homeland for this silk fabric, is an area close to Kyoto, famous for its’ weaving and dyeing production. Tango silk is famous for its’ good quality and strong threads. That is probably the reason why this fabric stayed in perfect condition after almost 100 years.
